Abidjan, the capital city of the Republic of C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, is hosting a three-day sub-regional workshop on the dissemination of innovative legal provisions in the OHADA Uniform Acts. <\/p>\n

The workshop scheduled to take place from 12 to 14 May 2016 brings together 80 participants from Benin, C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire and Togo for exchange on structures for exercising economic activities and on credit environment. The aim is to remedy the inadequate use of several legal provisions contained in Uniform Acts which, if better applied, could improve the comfort of economic actors as well as the ranking of OHADA Member States in various Doing Business reports. Participants were from various legal professions and professional bodies that make use of the OHADA law, namely judges, lawyers, notaries, bailiffs, court clerks, bankers, employers\u2019 representatives, chambers of commerce, and approved management centers.<\/p>\n

Although the Abidjan workshop, like that of Dakar and Ndjamena, as well as that of Ouagadougou, Moroni and Malabo that will follow, is naturally in line with the activities for the dissemination and promotion of OHADA law, it specifically aimed at ensuring the continuing improvement of the investment legal framework in a bid to create an even more efficient private sector, condition sine qua non for economic growth and human development. <\/p>\n

The Permanent Secretary takes this opportunity to thank the Governments of States that kindly authorized the holding of these workshops and the World Bank Group whose financial support was crucial.  <\/p>\n
