ANDRAGOGICAL PRACTICE AND FACILITATION TECHNIQUES FOR HYBRID TRAINING PROGRAMMES

TRAIN-THE-TRAINERS PROGRAMME IN ANDRAGOGY

THEME: “ANDRAGOGICAL PRACTICE AND FACILITATION TECHNIQUES FOR HYBRID TRAINING PROGRAMMES”

PORTO-NOVO(BENIN)- VIDEOCONFERENCE

ERSUMA, the Business Law School of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), in partnership with the Training Centres and Schools for Judicial Professions of OHADA Member States, is organizing at its headquarters in Porto-Novo and via videoconference, from 23 to 26 February 2026, a train-the-trainers session on the theme: “Andragogical Practice and Facilitation Techniques for Hybrid Training Programmes.”

Concept Note

Andragogy, the science and art of adult learning, emphasizes autonomy, professional experience, motivation and the practical relevance of training. This constantly evolving discipline is inevitably influenced by the acceleration of digital transformation, which calls upon training institutions to provide innovative, flexible learning arrangements tailored to the needs of adult learners. Strengthening trainers’ competencies in these areas has therefore become essential to ensure the quality and effectiveness of training activities in line with applicable standards. The widespread adoption of hybrid learning formats indeed requires innovative facilitation techniques in order to sustain learner engagement and pedagogical effectiveness. This session therefore aims to equip trainers and trainers of trainers with practical tools, proven methods and advanced pedagogical skills to design, deliver and assess training programmes for adult learners, whether in face-to-face, distance-learning or hybrid modes.

 Objectives of the training:

This training session will enable participants to:

  • Understand the fundamental principles of andragogy and their practical implications in adult education;
  • Master the design of training sequences tailored to adult learners, in face-to-face and distance-learning settings;
  • Master the preparation of hybrid training programmes, in particular instructional design and scenario development;
  • Master facilitation techniques for hybrid training;
  • Use digital and interactive tools effectively to support learning;
  • Manage group dynamics and foster active participation of adult learners in both in-person and online settings;
  • Develop relevant assessment tools for hybrid training;
  • Strengthen their competencies in training engineering and instructional design;
  • Apply best practices to enhance learner motivation, engagement and retention.

Methodology:
The training will be delivered in person and via videoconference by experts in andragogy and instructional design, and will combine theoretical presentations, experience sharing, interactive discussions and group work, including practical case studies. Competency transfer will be ensured through case-study analysis, role-playing and simulation exercises, drafting assignments, and related activities.
