Change of Chairmanship at the Helm of OHADA: Senegal Takes the Lead

On Tuesday 16 January 2024 in Dakar, the ceremony for the handover of office took place between the Democratic Republic of Congo, represented by H.E. Mrs MUTOMBO KIESE Rose, Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, outgoing Chairperson of the Council of Ministers, and the Republic of Senegal, represented by H.E. Mrs Aïssata TALL SALL, Keeper of the Seals, Minister of Justice, incoming Chairperson of the Council of Ministers. The ceremony took place in the presence of OHADA’s Permanent Secretary, Prof. Mayatta Ndiaye MBAYE.
 
The handover of office ceremony itself was preceded by a working session between the outgoing and incoming Chairpersons of the Council of Ministers, with a review of issues deemed to be priorities for the Organisation’s progress. The new Chair of the Council of Ministers also held a working session with the heads of OHADA’s institutions. These personalities were thereafter received in audience by H.E. Mr Macky SALL, Head of State of Senegal and incoming President of the Conference of Heads of State and Government.
 
In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Treaty, Senegal will chair the Conference of Heads of State and Government and the Council of Ministers throughout the year 2024.
