OHADA Permanent Secretary Received by the Authorities of the Democratic Republic of Congo

During his stay in Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) from 11 to 13 December 2024, the Permanent Secretary of OHADA, Prof. Mayatta Ndiaye MBAYE, was successively received by Mr Guylain NYEMBO MBWIZYA, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning and Coordination of Development Aid, Mr Constant MUTAMBA TUNGUNGA, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals and Mr Rock BASHALA, Coordinator of the Business Climate Unit of the Office of the President of the Republic.

Discussions with the Congolese authorities focused on various topics of current interest to the Organisation, in particular the issue of financing OHADA, the state and improvement of the business climate and the prospects for the deployment of the OHADA Arbitration Centre in the DRC. The Permanent Secretary praised the reforms undertaken by the DRC to improve the business climate, as well as the objective and transparent approach adopted through the Business Climate Barometer designed and implemented by the Business Climate Unit of the Office of the President of the Republic. He also drew the attention of the Congolese authorities to the prospects and strategies for strengthening the mechanism for improving the business climate in Africa, marked in particular by the forthcoming organisation of an event of high systemic and geostrategic importance for OHADA member countries, and for Africa as a whole. 

 The host authorities renewed their support and that of the Congolese government for OHADA’s activities, and reiterated their commitment to working alongside the Permanent Secretary to ensure the success of the projects undertaken.
