SIGNING OF A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN OHADA AND THE UN

The Permanent Secretary of OHADA and the Secretary General of UNICITRAL sign a major Agreement (Brazzaville, October 26, 2016)

On October 26, 2016, the Radisson BLU M’bamou Palace Hotel in Brazzaville (Republic of Congo) hosted the signing ceremony of a Cooperation Agreement between the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA) represented by its Permanent Secretary, Professor Dorothé C. SOSSA, and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), a specialized UN body, represented by its Secretary General, Mr. Renaud SORIEUL. The ceremony was held on the sidelines of the meeting between OHADA and its technical and financial partners, held within the framework of the 42nd session of the Council of Ministers.

It is worthy of note that the scope of intervention of OHADA is fairly close to that of UNCITRAL, a universal legal body specialized in commercial law reform through the modernization and harmonization of international trade rules. The Agreement signed by the two Organizations aims to enhance cooperation on topics of common interest, promote the exchange of information and carry out joint actions in view of stimulating international commercial transactions.

The Permanent Secretary of OHADA welcomes the signing of the Cooperation Agreement, which attests to the growing credibility of the Organization and its international influence.

The Permanent Secretary of OHADA
