17 October 2024 cannot go unnoticed in OHADA’s agenda; it is actually the date marking the 31st anniversary of this African Organisation fostering legal integration and which was established by the Treaty of 17 October 1993 signed in Port-Louis (Mauritius).
As you may recall, OHADA’s mission is to:
1) Provide African countries with legal solutions to their economic problems;
2) Regularly improve the investment climate through the adoption of harmonised, simple, modern business law suitable to the situation of African economies;
3) Secure investments by regularly building the capacity of professionals and economic operators, and by establishing a predictable, reliable, objective and effective system for the settlement of disputes.
To commemorate this day, the Permanent Secretariat is organising a documentary exhibition at its headquarters in Yaoundé (Cameroon), as well as a conference on “The autonomy of OHADA law in relation to national laws”. The conference will also be accessible online via the ERSUMA digital platform.
