In a press release dated 7 March 2025, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Economy and Finance reminded entities subject to the System of Accounts for Not-for-Profit Entities (SYSCEBNL) of their obligation to keep accounts and produce annual financial statements that comply with the SYSCEBNL standards for the 2024 accounting year. The SYSCEBNL, adopted on 22 December 2022, is directly applicable in OHADA Member States and has been in force since 1 January 2024. The Minister of Economy and Finance therefore urges taxpayers to align their accounts with the SYSCEBNL, or else face sanctions. He further instructs his departments to support the entities concerned in the proper application of the SYSCEBNL.
The Permanent Secretary hereby requests all Member States to ensure the effective application of this accounting standard, which is useful for the good governance of not-for-profit entities.
