Meeting in Lomé (Republic of Togo) on Friday, 8 May 2026, the Finance Ministers of the Member States of the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa (OHADA) held a special session devoted to the Organisation’s financial governance and financial sustainability.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by the OHADA Permanent Secretary, Professor Mayatta Ndiaye MBAYE, followed by the opening address delivered by His Excellency Essowè Georges BARCOLA, Minister of Finance and Budget of the Togolese Republic and current Co-Chair of the OHADA Council of Ministers.
Discussions focused on a thorough review of OHADA’s financial situation. At the close of the session, the Ministers adopted a resolution setting out several corrective measures and strategic directions aimed at sustainably strengthening OHADA’s funding framework and enhancing the governance of its resources.
Through this collective mobilisation, the Member States reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening OHADA institutionally, preserving its achievements, and consolidating its leading role in Africa’s legal integration and economic development.
