The Higher Regional School of Magistracy (ERSUMA) is an Institution of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA).
ERSUMA has the personality and legal capacity as well as an administrative and financial autonomy. It enjoys international status. All Member States to the Treaty are members of ERSUMA. Any State acceding to the Treaty after its entry into force automatically becomes member of ERSUMA.
However, ERSUMA may occasionally accept nationals of non-member States, with the approval of the School Board. The purpose of ERSUMA is to work towards improving the legal and judicial environment in all Member States.
In particular, ERSUMA is charged with the capacity-building and training of judges and court officials of Member States on harmonized laws and business law. It is also a center of documentation and research on legal and judicial issues.
Thanks to the grant from the European Union under the 9th EDF, ERSUMA acquired state-of-the-art technology especially in terms of computer facilities, network infrastructure, video conferencing, virtual documentation and language laboratory with translation and interpretation services.
