Esteemed friends of OHADA,
The Year 2023 is now coming to an end. It has been, for our mutual Organization, a particularly challenging year, marked by significant and successfully managed setbacks and robust governance decisions, a year full of resilience, recognition, benevolence, experience and lessons. Under the distinguished chairmanship of the Democratic Republic of Congo, this year has enabled our Organization to strengthen its commitment towards achieving sound governance and development of its Member States and Africa as a whole. During the celebration of its thirtieth anniversary which took place in Kinshasa, Democratic Republico f Congo, OHADA took stock of its actions and charted a new course for its future. It also embarked on a far-reaching revision of the Uniform Act to Organize Simplified Recovery Procedures and Measures of Execution (AUPSRVE) and Rules of Procedure for CCJA on Arbitration. These initiatives triggered a lot of hope in favour of the revitalization of the Court’s Arbitration Centre. I hereby reiterate to you all my sincere gratitude for your unwavering support, collaboration, dynamism and sense of integration and responsibility without which it would not have been possible to achieve these results.
The Year 2024 is around the corner. It will be marked on 1 January by the entry into force of the accounting system for not-for-profit entities and, in February, by the entry into force of the revised AUPSRVE. During the Year 2024 marked by Senegal’s chairmanship of our Organisation, OHADA intends to pursue its efforts towards strengthening inclusive governance, leveraging technical and financial partners, meeting priority issues and overcoming the major challenges that lie ahead. To this end, it is critical for OHADA to work hand in glove with its stakeholders so as to meet the legitimate aspirations of our great Community.
It is on this note that I wish you all and your family members an excellent Year 2024, brimful of health, peace in the OHADA area and worldwide, and success in our individual and collective actions.
Long live OHADA, a vector for legal certainty, judicial security and development of Africa!
